Computer-Guided Dental Implant
A three-dimensional model of the jaw is created using digital measurements, three-dimensional imaging, and photographs of the patient. The final and temporary restorations are then planned, and the positions of the implants are determined precisely. A surgical guide is produced from this model and used during implant placement to guide the implants into their planned positions. Computer-guided dental implant placement can be combined with immediate placement after extraction when appropriate. Benefits of computer-guided implant placement The treatment plan is prepared before implant placement to help anticipate problems during the procedure. Suitability for patients with diabetes or a tendency to bleed requires individual assessment. Implant positions can be planned accurately. Selected cases may not require stitches. Selected cases may avoid surgical incisions in the gums. Implant placement may take less time. The approach may support faster wound healing in suitable cases. A surgical guide can be designed for the replacement of a single tooth or all the teeth in a jaw.
